Project Blue Sky is currently on the wrap-up as the Olympics have finished. There are possible plans for Project Blue Sky to ramp up for the next Olympics so we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything more definite.

Thank you all for participating! Please keep walking, biking, and using public transit!

The Ning Site will remain up for a little while, but you’ll probably notice some of the features disappear as the site slowly goes offline (some parts will remain in the Free Ning version) (Also, some of our social media hosts are switching their interface and, rather than spend the time and money we don’t have anymore to move our widgets over to the new sites, we’re letting them go.)

With the Paralympic Games coming to a close it’s sad to bid farewell to more exciting athletes and their contributions to social change and athletic merit. The Paralympians show us how important it is to focus on what they can do, not what they can’t, because often you can find a way to do anything you want if you keep pushing for your goal.

For anyone out there thinking that we can’t stop climate change, remember that you can. You have the resources and ability right in front of you. You just need to try. The efforts that you put forth to save the planet do show and will be evident as the years progress. Something as simple as walking to school or work, something as easy as separating recyclables from your garbage, or something as basic as telling your friends to join in with the efforts all make a difference in the fight against climate change.

And so, to the Paralympians and the Paralympic Games we say, “Thank you!” Thank you for showing us how it is possible to achieve goals even when the odds may appear to be against you. Thank you for making it clear that everyone can make things right and they do have actions that they can take to achieve great feats. Most of all, thank you for excelling at what you do and representing so honourably the countries that support you.

Wheelchair curling: Canada – USA battle for curling gold

Vancouver (AFP) – Defending champions Canada and bitter rivals the United States were locked in a tight tussle for Paralympic curling gold at the halfway stage of the competition.

The North American neighbours were leading a field of 10 teams that includes Britain, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

2010 Paralympic Games Begins Tomorrow

Well it’s almost time for the Paralympic Games! Check out all the fantastic torchbearers! They will be in UBC today for celebrations before heading downtown to Robson Square for the 24-hour Torch Event starting at 2:00 pm. We’re here to support our athletes too, so make sure to get your bikes and transit passes out to go support them at their events!

Translink Reports Effectiveness for Olympics

During the Olympics, Project Blue Sky was honoured with the Coca-Cola “Living Positively” Award to recognize our efforts for promoting sustainable living. The Olympics are reaching their climax very soon and we’ll be back to things as normal in Vancouver, Canada. However, what will you take away from the Olympics? One thing I hope we can all take away is how it IS possible to use transit to get to work. It is possible to use something more ecologically friendly to get around this beautiful city of ours. Even when there are billions of people crowding the streets it is possible. So next week I hope to see everyone continuing to use public transit, biking, or walking to work to help make our skies a bit more blue. (and we still have the Paralympics to come!)
